«Gipfelstürmer» – chamber music summit 2026

Liestal is a hotspot for classical music. The largest cello festival in Europe, «VivaCello», takes place here every few years. So far, it had already been directed by cellists such as Antonio Meneses, Nicolas Altstaedt and Maximilian Hornung. The festival is organized by «Baselbieter Konzerte» who have been setting quality standards for over 40 years with ensembles such as the Quatuor Ébène and soloists like Sabine Meyer, Christian Zacharias and Vilde Frang.

In 2023, «Baselbieter Konzerte» set a new accent: outstanding young talents from all over the world are invited to take an innovative and rare step on their way to the musical top. Following the example of chamber music meccas such as Prussia Cove (UK), Tanglewood (USA) or Villa Musica (Germany), established and successful artists and experienced teachers will work directly with young musicians from the very first day, as they will be directly involved in medias res: rehearsing the most beautiful and interesting chamber music compositions together as equals.

Application is open to advanced musicians from all over the world with music videos featuring the instruments clarinet, flute, horn, oboe, horn, bassoon, piano and strings. The ensembles will be assembled after the course confirmation, then the repertoire will be announced to a maximum of 15 participants.
